Mrs Clara Carr
Clara Carr is a HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) registered Dietitian with 19 years working experience in the NHS. She also has a degree in Biochemistry from Imperial College and an MPhil in Food Science. She has a passion to help people practically, so she trained to be a dietitian obtaining a Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics, so she could translate medical and scientific knowledge into helping live better through ‘do-able’ diet and lifestyle changes that will help feel and be better. She has worked in various settings including the largest hospital in Europe and several district general hospitals across West and South Yorkshire. She has worked in Hospital, Community and GP clinics since 2008. She has a special interest in Gastroenterology dietetic – including IBS, IBD, Food intolerances and Coeliac disease. She was also a specialist Care Home Dietitian for many years and can offer advice on modified texture diets and for people with Learning Disabilities. She runs groups for gluten free diets and the Low FODMAP diet for patients who need this. She is currently working at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and does some clinics and groups at Huddersfield. She also has much experience working in weight management – either to lose or gain weight, diabetes and dietary advice for cancer and dementia. A keen sports person, she runs and exercises regularly, and therefore knows from experience about diets for active people. She has run a marathon and did the Aspire Channel Swim but also just walks for fitness with her family. She also has experience working with children and families and is keen to help people get healthier and feel better by improving their diets to fit into their lifestyles. As a mother of two boys, she has personal and professional knowledge and experience of working with children, families, carers and schools to improve their diets with limited time and budgets available. As a keen cook and gourmet (lover of food and eating) she has the practical skills and knowledge to help people with menu planning and can offer easy to prepare food solutions. She offers a unique ‘cook and eat’ service in client’s own homes and will do ‘supermarket tours’ too.
