Your role
You will work closely with the committee to organise and deliver events that meet the needs of the group's members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and co-ordinate study days, webinars and CPD events in collaboration with the committee
- Work with the Treasurer to develop an event budget, setting income and expenditure
- Plan the event programme, working with the committee and members on topics and speakers
- Collaborate with the Sponsorship Officer to develop sponsorship opportunities
- Work with the Social Media Officer and Website Officer to market events through BDA and group channels
- Liaise with the BDA to sign appropriate contracts for event spaces, merchandise and associated services
- Work closely with the BDA Volunteer Manager and the BDA Events Team, seeking advice and guidance where needed
Support and development
You will be fully supported throughout your term, including:
- Full induction with BDA staff and a detailed handover from the previous postholder
- Access to the BDA's bespoke service level agreement package to help plan and manage group events
- Workshops, webinars and the BDA annual Volunteer Support Day
- Ongoing support from the BDA Volunteer Manager, Chair, Treasurer, Social Media Officer, Sponsorship Officer and Website Editor
- Access to the volunteer handbook, hub and monthly newsletter
- Networking with other volunteers through events, webinars and volunteer forums
Commitment
You will be elected for a two-year term of office, with the option to extend for an additional two years. We hope that reasonable notice would be given if you are no longer able to fulfil the role, as we appreciate that circumstances can change.
Committee meetings are held regularly throughout the year and can be attended virtually if required. There is a flexible amount of work between meetings, dependent on the strategy, workplans and projects agreed by the committee.

- To provide expert nutritional advice and information to dietitians, other health professionals and carers working with people with renal disease
- To promote research into the role of nutrition and renal disease
- To promote appropriate resources
- To liaise with other specialist interest groups within the BDA as appropriate and circulate and act upon information from BDA Board of Directors
- To deliver the Kidney Dietitian Specialist Group (formerly Renal Nutrition Specialist Group) strategic plan in conjunction with the BDA Strategic plan
