Help shape the future of dietetics, and your own career, by stepping into one of the BDA's most rewarding roles. As Treasurer, you'll be the co-ordinator of all financial matters within your committee, working closely with a motivated team to set strategy and deliver for members.

Your role
You will have oversight of your sub group budget, providing accurate records of financial transactions, managing income and expenditure, and working with the committee to create business cases for projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Take overall responsibility for financial matters, working closely with the BDA Accounts Department and Volunteer Manager, seeking advice and guidance where needed
- Work with the Specialist Group Treasurer to manage the sub groups budget effectively and seek support and guidance where needed
- Ensure the committee follows the guidance and procedures set out in the BDA Finance Handbook
- Lead the annual budget process for the group, supported by the BDA Accounts Department, and work with the committee to ensure all planned income and expenditure is budgeted for
- Monitor and evaluate the budget regularly, making adjustments with the BDA Accounts Department as needed
- Provide advice and guidance to the committee on financial matters, ensuring projects and events have a budget within the overall group budget
- Work with committee members and BDA staff to arrange contracts and service agreements, in line with BDA guidance and HMRC rules
- Present the specialist group accounts at the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Submit regular financial activity information to the Accounts Department via payment and receipt packs
- Attend the BDA Strategic Finance Workshop on commencement of the role, and refresher training on commencement of a second term
- Support the committee in delivering group projects where relevant

Commitment
You will be elected for a two-year term of office, with the option to extend for an additional two years. We hope that reasonable notice would be given if you are no longer able to fulfil the role, as we appreciate that circumstances can change.
Committee meetings are held regularly throughout the year and can be attended virtually if required. There is a flexible amount of work between meetings, dependent on the strategy, workplans and projects agreed by the committee.
Aims and objectives of the group
- To establish a network of dietitians working in neonatology to share practice.
- To create a forum for discussion of current issues within the field of neonatal nutrition.
- To provide evidence based education and advice to non-specialists and specialists in the field of neonatology through meetings, study days and a network of experts who can be contacted for advice.
- To develop links with other professional groups working in neonatology.
- To undertake joint collaborative audit and research to develop formalised standards and publish work
