Every September, the TUC Congress brings UK trade unions together to discuss priorities for the coming year and what the TUC need to do to achieve them. The BDA Trade Union regularly attends the TUC Congress, as it serves the opportunity to raise and discuss issues affecting members with the wider trade union movement.
This year, BDA members have submitted two motions to the TUC Congress for discussion and debate. One has been submitted by the BDA London Branch, calling on the government to reinvest in food security and nutrition services. The other has been submitted by BDA member Sam McConkey, calling for improved working conditions and recognition for the dietetic support workforce.
The purpose of submitting the motions to the conference is to gain support from the wider trade union movement for our members' campaigns and backing with national resources and influence. You can view and access the motions via the links below:
Our BDA delegates will move the motions at the conference, where we hope they will be supported by delegates from other TUC-affiliated trade unions.
Submitting a motion to the TUC conference is a fantastic way to put your campaign in the national spotlight and to increase pressure on the stakeholders you need to influence to achieve your campaign goals.
