Update on NHS England pay offer 2023

Consultation on the offer will open on 27 March and run until 28 April when further, more detailed information will be available.

In the meantime, members may find the below information useful.

Government’s revised pay offer for staff on Agenda for Change contracts for 2022/23 and 2023/24

Details of the offer in principle are now available and include the proposed payments per band for the non-consolidated award for 2022/23 and the proposed pay for each pay point with a 5% uplift.

There are a range of non-pay elements to the package, which are in summary form at the moment, with more detail to follow when we open our member-wide consultation. These include:

  • Building a workforce for the future, including considering ways to reduce the amount of agency spending and ensuring appropriate staffing levels in nursing, midwifery, allied health professions and ambulance services
  • Improving career development and support
  • A review of the current pay setting process
  • Tackling violence and aggression
  • Addressing the challenges around recruitment and retention of nursing staff
  • Pension abatement
  • Consideration of the current cap on redundancy payments

The proposed non-consolidated payment for 2022/23

Please note: the 2022/23 non-consolidated payment outlined below is additional to the already-imposed 2022/23 pay award - which amounted to a minimum uplift of £1,400 for each AfC band.
