Getting Active in the Workplace

BDA Members work in a wide variety of workplaces. We have members in large hospitals, small clinics, out in the community and many more places. One of the things that unites all these different locations is that they all benefit from BDA members getting active and organising.

Getting active can take many different forms – one of the best ways is by becoming a BDA Trade Union Rep. These are the people who are the first point of contact for members and can assist with a range of issues. We’ll talk more about BDA Trade Union Reps later in the week but if you’re interested check out our BDA Trade Union Rep page on our website or get in touch to find out more.

Another way to get active is to start talking to your fellow BDA members about issues you may face where you work. Odds are if you have an issue at work others have experienced it as well and there’s no benefit to anyone suffering in silence. If you already have a rep you can raise it with them and ask if it can be resolved through existing channels.

If being in a trade union is anything it is about workers sharing their experiences, working together, and doing what they can to resolve their issues for the betterment of all concerned.

Finally one of the simplest and quickest things to do help with having an organised workplace is by keeping your details up to date with the BDA. We know it’s not the most fun activity to engage in but it is vital that we have members employer, work site, and contact details to allow us to conduct ballots and stay in touch.
